Richard has worked at APRA|AMCOS for the last 14 years. APRA|AMCOS represents composers, songwriters and music publishers and is Australia's and New Zealand's oldest and biggest copyright collection society, with combined earnings of more that $200m last year. APRA|AMCOS provides a one-stop-shop for blanket access to the world's repertoire of songs - the fundamental building block of the music industry - for small, medium, large and multinational companies to use in their businesses.

Richard's prime role at APRA|AMCOS has been the negotiation and implementation of licence schemes with major client groups including, record companies, digital music services (including the recent Copyright Tribunal approved digital download licence scheme), ringtone providers, and the commercial radio and television industries. APRA|AMCOS has been at the forefront of enabling and licensing new media music services and creating new revenue opportunities for its members at a time when APRA|AMCOS now collects twice as much revenue from digital downloads than CDs. Richard is currently grappling with the challenges and opportunities thrown up by music apps, all-you-can-eat subscription services and 'freemium' music models.
