Mark Callaghan
Mark joined AMPAL in April 2007 following five years as General Manager of Shock Music Publishing. Prior to his time at Shock, Mark worked as Artist and Repertoire Manager at Festival Records for 4 years and before that, as Professional Manager at Sony/ATV Music publishing. He is a current board member of AMCOS and the Music Council of Australia.
In addition to his music industry work, Mark is probably best known as the singer and songwriter of GANGgajang (with whom he continues to preform). He has a broad knowledge of all aspects the music business having managed bands, worked in music retail and as a record producer. Mark has also composed over 400 songs including classics such as ‘Sounds Of Then (This Is Australia)', ‘Gimmie Some Lovin' and ‘House Of Cards'. He's toured nationally and internationally and spent over 12 years as an industry professional, all of which has given him a unique perspective on the music business and a passion for Australian music that remains undiminished since he first grabbed a guitar and strummed a few tentative chords in sleepy 1970's Brisbane. Mark also holds a degree in design from the University Of Queensland and is currently an Adjunct Professor and the Queensland University Of Technology Creative Industries and Innovation Centre.
