Dave Lory

Dave Lory is the Chairman/CEO of Worldwide Entertainment Group, Inc. (WEG), a management, consulting and event production company. His in-depth understanding of the music business stems from over 20 years experience in all areas of the industry. He is one of the few executives to have worked in every major genre of popular music including rock, pop, country, folk, classical, jazz, hip-hop and R&B.

From early on in his career Lory excelled in breaking new acts and reviving others. Amongst his accomplishments during this period, he successfully revived the Allman Brothers after their 10-year absence and was instrumental in breaking the career of Jeff Buckley globally.

As Vice President of International Operations at Mercury Records, he helped break the careers of Cake, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Richie Sambora's solo career. He also helped revive the careers of Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams internationally. Most notably Lory transformed Shania Twain and Hanson into platinum-selling, global superstars for the label, elevating the company's status from one international platinum-selling artist, Bon Jovi, to three.

Lory's vast experience served him well in helping to start up Artemis Records, one of the most successful independent record companies in the past decade. As Sr. Vice-President, Lory laid the foundation in production, A&R, international, publishing and human resources for the company. Within seven months, Artemis placed four albums - Kurupt, Warren Zevon, Kittie, and Steve Earle - on the 2000 Billboard charts. This was the first time a new record company had four albums on the charts in its first year. The label also garnered attention with its Grammy nominations, including the Baha Men'sWho Let the Dogs Out ; which sold three million records. Artemis Records was voted Billboard magazine's “Independent Label of the Year” in 2000 and 2001.

Lory has guided the careers of a wide range of artists, including Courtney Love, Duncan Sheik, and Robert Earl Keen, and worked in various capacities with many more, from KISS to Lionel Richie.

In recognition of his achievements, Lory was elected to the New York Chapter of N.A.R.A.S. (National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences) Board of Governors, where he was instrumental in returning the Grammys to New York after a four year absence. He has also co-produced “The Songwriters Hall of Fame” dinner two years running

Lory was a founding member of the Music Managers' Forum; an organization that supports key issues for artists and managers within the music industry and with Congress. In addition, he still finds time to lecture at several music colleges, including William Paterson University and New York University , where he attended college with a major in both Music Performance and Music Business.

His NYC-based company's current artist roster includes Australian pop star Shannon Noll (Sony BMG Australia); singer/actor Dana Fuchs, young rapper Lanz (Interscope); soprano Shawna Stone(EMI), female rocker Dirty Harry, and Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Luke Ebbin. Lory also represents and manages the music-based children's TV show Punktuition with Tania Shakinovsky and Sally Boyden.

Throughout his experience as a tour manager, artist manager, international consultant and record company executive, Dave Lory has earned a reputation of integrity, honesty, artist friendliness, innovation in marketing, breaking new artists on a international level, and being both a motivator and mentor. It is because of these attributes that he has an in-depth understanding of the music industry and how it works. In turn, this reputation has solidified his profile as a successful and respected music industry executive.
