Peter Farnan

Peter is former songwriter and guitarist of iconic Australian rock band Boom Crash Opera and seminal post punk outfit Serious Young Insects. His work as composer, sound designer and musical director with companies such as Malthouse and MTC has earned him Helpmann and Green Room Award nominations.

His ongoing collaboration with Michael Kantor and his cohort has produced work such as Woyzeck and Sleeping Beauty. He has co-written and produced a number of successful pop and rock records for artists including The Sharp, Rachael Kane, d rogers and Crying In Public Places. Peter has recently returned from the UK where he was musical director for the Belvoir Company B production of The Sapphires which appeared at the Barbican Centre in London. He is currently undertaking a masters in sound design by research at VCA. Peter also teaches songwriting, performance and music technology to degree students at Box Hill Institute and NMIT.
