Michael Szumowski is the Head of Creative Development as well as a writer/producer with J. Albert & Son Pty Ltd (known as “Alberts”), a leading Australian independent music rights management company that is actively involved in music publishing, recording and studios.

The business began in Sydney in 1885 as a clock and violin repair shop, run by Swiss
immigrant Jacques Albert. Today, Alberts represents a broad reportoire of both local and international works. This includes the entire AC/DC catalogue, the works of Harry Vanda and George Young, as well as up-and-coming songwriters such as Gotye, Megan Washington and San Cisco. International catalogues and writers represented by Alberts include David Guetta and Fred Rister, Irving Berlin, the Beach Boys, Pete Townshend and Phil Collins.

As a writer and producer, Michael has skilfully written and produced songs for artists here in Australia and other territories such as Germany, France, Spain and Japan – picking up a host of gold and platinum awards along the way. Michael’s role at Alberts sees him working hands on with many up-and-coming, as well as established artists and songwriters.
