When Matt made a feature film during his final year of film studies at UTS, triple j film critic Peter Castaldi declared at the time: “Australian screens need a future and this is it!”. Matt was then invited as one of eight directors to make a film for “POV 2002”, from a script by Brendan Cowell, for which he created a sci-fi starring Pia Miranda. 10 years on and Matt continues to develop drama projects through his production company Chesterfilm, while also freelancing as a TVC director. Matt’s 2010 thriller COLD SORE has screened at over 40 film festivals around the world including the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and winning Best Film at the Indie Spirit Film Festival and Best Screenplay at the Boston International Film Festival. Matt is a two-time Tropfest finalist with his films A DESPERATE DEED (2011) and MIN MIN (2012).
