Arnthor Birgisson

Arnthor Birgisson was born on February 12, 1976 in Reykjavik, Iceland. He is a Swedish songwriter and producer who plays a mixture of pop and R&B. Arnthor moved to Sweden in 1978 when he was two years old and is currently living in Stockholm.

Arnthor began his professional songwriting and production career in 1996 when he worked at Cosmos Studios with owner/music producer/songwriter Kent (Gillström) Isaacs and music producer Bloodshy. In 1997, the founders of the record label Murlyn Music, Anders Bagge and Christian Wåhlberg, saw Arnthor and Bloodshy’s potential and handpicked them to the newly formed production company. Arnthor’s breakthrough came a year later with the song Because of You, written for boy band 98 Degrees. During that time, Arnthor worked at Murlyn Music up until 2003, writing hits for Ronan Keating, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Janet Jackson, Samantha Mumba and Celine Dion.

Between 2003 and 2008, Arnthor worked at Maratone, a production company founded by Max Martin and Tom Talomaa and worked with songwriters and producers like Rami and Dr. Luke. During his time at at Maratone, Arnthor wrote songs for Enrique Iglesias, Shayne Ward and Westlife among others.

In 2008, Arnthor’s song Say OK, performed by Vanessa Hudgens, was rewarded the prize for ‘This Year’s Biggest American Pop Hit’ at the BMI London Awards.

During his career, Arnthor has worked with record labels including Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Music, EMI Group and Warner Music Group.
