Fresh from playing at Dreaming (Woodford Folk Festival 2011/2012), Jess makes her debut onto the Australian recording scene. Her honest, heartfelt pop melodies are anchored with a voice that’s raw and unaffected, and her tight knit band weave elements of folk and jazz in with the otherwise distinctly Australian sound. A country girl and a descendant of Luritja people, Jess was Nominated for a Deadly in 2010 for most promising new talent, and has already supported the likes of Jessica Mauboy and Dan Sultan.
Jess was one of three artists to receive a grant though the Gadigal Emerging Indigenous Artist Competition. She worked with well-known Producer Tony Buchen. After a week in the studio, Jess completed a 5 track EP titled Hometown Dress.
The EP features Guitarist James McKendry, Piano and Piano Accordion Player Lukas Maio, Double Bass Player Curtis Argent and one of the most sought after drummers in the country Terepai Richmond.
