AUSCAN Music Spotlight
Showcasing three of the East Coast of Canada’s most talented and award winning artists Matt Anderson, David Myles and Tim Chaisson, alongside two of Australia’s favourites Henry Wagons and Ray Beadle, the AUSCAN MUSIC SPOTLIGHT CIRCLE is an opportunity to get up close and personal with the writers and their songs. The artists will take the audience on a song writing journey as they illustrate the evolution of a song from its birth to the finished product. The songwriters share their inspirations and successes, along with their frustrations and stumbles. They also share the stories behind their songs and, of course, perform them at Song Summit Live!
Hilltop Hoods Initiative
The HTH Initiative is a $10,000 grant funded by Hilltop Hoods and APRA to help emerging Australian Hip Hop artists to manufacture, market and release an album. This year, emerging hip hop group RUNFORYOURLIFE were announced as the winner! Catch them perform at Song Summit LIVE.
Jamm for Genes
Jamm for Genes have chosen some new musical ambassadors! Congratulations Adam Katz, Kelly Griffith and The Falls who’ll travel around the country performing at Jamm for Genes fundraising events. You’ll also have the chance to catch them performing LIVE at Song Summit on Sunday night.
“The Line” is the Australian Government’s campaign to promote respectful relationships. A number of their talented ambassadors will take to the stage on Saturday to raise awareness about where to draw the line when it comes to relationships.
Play the Music
Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 Play the Music competition! We’ve given them the opportunity to show off their talents. We’re giving delegates the opportunity to show off their talents to peers and industry professionals. You can see Carla Lippis, Donna Jordee, Chance Waters, Susan Hull and Sam Buckingham perform their original songs at Song Summit LIVE. Keep your eyes peeled for them at networking breaks and during the Saturday night program.
The Song Summit Sessions
We’ve put together a bill to satisfy the apetite of every delegate. There’s a diverse range of artists performing on Sunday May 27 and throughout the conference at networking breaks, with artists ranging from Ego Lemos, through to San Cisco and Imogen Heap.
As part of Imogen Heap’s visit for the 2012 APRA Song Summit, she will also perform a series of stripped back renditions of songs from her globetrotting, in-progress album – 6 songs in 60 minutes – giving fans the chance to interact with the award-winning singer-songwriter and gain a unique insight into the stories behind each song. This early evening recital will be set in the intimate and picturesque surrounds of the Concert Hall northern foyer at the Sydney Opera House.
For this chamber performance, Heap will showcase songs from her evolving album with the sole accompaniment of a piano and series of projected works, sharing each inspiration, location and experience in a uniquely personal performance for Vivid LIVE 2012.
Presented by Vivid LIVE and SONG SUMMIT.
