Song Summit LIVE line-up announced

SONG SUMMIT 2012, the three-day music industry conference featuring presentations, workshops, gigs, mentoring plus performance and networking opportunities for delegates to be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre is just around the corner (May 26th – May 28th).

And did we mention gigs? All SONG SUMMIT ticket holders will not only get access to some killer panels, workshops and talks but also a host of terrific live performances by the likes of IMOGEN HEAP, MEGAN WASHINGTON, SAN CISCO, CATHERINE BRITT and EGO LEMOS who are just five of the 30 performers who will grace the Song Summit LIVE stage to play exclusively for delegates.

The SONG SUMMIT SESSIONS on Sunday May 27th and throughout the conference at networking breaks, will host a series of performances across multiple music genres, including EGO LEMOS, indie darlings SAN CISCO and digital diva IMOGEN HEAP. Now at the peak of a diverse career spanning 15 years series, IMOGEN will perform stripped back renditions of songs from her globetrotting, in-progress album. The SONG SUMMIT SESSIONS will also feature live performances by ANDREW REDFORD, MEL PARSONS, PIETER-T and KELLY MENHENNETT.

MEGAN WASHINGTON, CATHERINE BRITT and CAITLIN HARNETT will perform live as part of a very special WOMEN OF VANDA AND YOUNG showcase. The annual Vanda and Young Songwriting competition attracts thousands of submissions and we are honoured to have these three previous winners join us at Song Summit.  The tremendously talented CAITLIN HARTNETT, CATHERINE BRITT and MEGAN WASHINGTON will perform live at SONG SUMMIT on Saturday 26th May.

The winners of the 2012 HILLTOP HOODS Initiative RUNFORYOURLIFE will also perform live at SONG SUMMIT. Emerging hip hop group RUNFORYOURLIFE were announced as the winner of the Hilltop Hoods Initiative for 2012, receiving a kick-start to their career with $10,000 going towards the release and promotion of their first solo album, valuable legal advice and Shure microphone equipment.

Some ambassadors for THE LINE, the Australian Government’s campaign to promote respectful relationships will be performing.  On Saturday May 26th, THE LINE showcase will feature Sydney hip hop outfit JACKIE ONASSIS and ELI WOLFE, a songwriter who is carving a name for himself as a troubadour to watch.

Congratulations to CARLA LIPPIS, DONNA JORDEE, CHANCE WATERS, SUSAN HULL and SAM BUCKINGHAM who will perform at Song Summit LIVE as the winners of our PLAY THE MUSIC competition. They will perform on Saturday May 26th and throughout the conference at networking breaks.

The AUSCAN MUSIC SPOTLIGHT CIRCLE is a joint Canadian/Australian event on Sunday May 27th.  Showcasing three of the East Coast of Canada’s most talented and award winning artists MATT ANDERSON, DAVID MYLES and TIM CHAISSON, along side two of Australia’s favourites HENRY WAGONS and RAY BEADLE, the AUSCAN MUSIC SPOTLIGHT CIRCLE is an opportunity to get up close and personal with the writers and their songs. The artists will take the audience on a song-writing journey as they illustrate the evolution of a song from its birth to the finished product. The songwriters share their inspirations and successes, along with their frustrations and stumbles. They also share the stories behind their songs, and of course, perform them at Song Summit LIVE!

The iconic Australian fundraising campaign JEANS FOR GENES has chosen new musical ambassadors, and to celebrate they’ll be playing at Song Summit LIVE as part of the JAMM FOR GENES program. They are now announced as songwriters KELLY GRIFFITH, ADAM KATZ and MELINDA KIRWIN.

SONG SUMMIT and the SMOKY DAWSON FOUNDATION are proud to announce that songwriters EMMA SWIFT and SCOTT SPARK have received two exclusive scholarships. The Foundation is principle sponsor of the Songwriting Career Development Workshop at SONG SUMMIT 2012 and have provided two exclusive scholarships for emerging songwriters to attend the event with a prize package to the value of $5,000 each. The career development workshops will provide Emma and Scott the opportunity to work with an established songwriter as a mentor such as Megan Washington, Lior or Kev Carmody.
Don’t forget the SONG SUMMIT App where with just one finger, conference guests will be able to navigate through the three-day program, flick through the line-up of distinguished speakers and also save favourite sessions into a single easy-to-monitor list for the ultimate in convenience.
