Missy Higgins set to bring some razzle dazzle to Song Summit

For Media Release Thursday April 26th, 2012

APRA|AMCOS is thrilled to announce that on the eve of her new album release and her first national tour in over 4 years, acclaimed singer-songwriter Missy Higgins has joined SONG SUMMIT 2012! Australia’s premiere music industry conference featuring presentations, workshops, gigs, mentoring plus performance and networking opportunities for delegates will be held May 26th- May 28th at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Missy Higgins returns to the Australian music arena with a brand new single ‘Unashamed Desire’ (her first in five years) and the announcement of a brand new album ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’ and accompanying tour for June and July. It follows her private decision to quit music despite selling over a million copies of her first two albums, ‘The Sound of White’ and ‘On A Clear Night’, receiving truck loads of critical acclaim and multiple ARIA Awards. With a phenomenal music career already under her belt and an exciting third act around the corner, Missy brings a wealth of experience to SONG SUMMIT 2012.

Also on hand to share their songwriting tips with SONG SUMMIT 2012 delegates will be James Blundell and Charles Jenkins. Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter James Blundell is considered by many to be one of the saviours of the Australian country music scene. Since winning the Golden Guitar for best new talent in 1987 he has written more than ten albums. And we welcome singer songwriter Charles Jenkins (of Charles Jenkins and the Zhivagoes) who was once described in the Sydney Morning Herald as ‘ too good a writer not to be in your life’.

Now for some speaker changes for SONG SUMMIT 2012. APRA|AMCOS regrets to announce that Paul Kelly (who was scheduled to appear on Saturday May 26th) has withdrawn from the event. Unfortunately Paul Kelly has had a clash of schedules and recording commitments have necessitated his withdrawal from Song Summit. Kate Miller-Heidke and musical partner Keir Nuttall have also withdrawn from SONG SUMMIT to perform at a benefit concert in Hanoi for MTV Exit, a charity close to Kate’s heart that tries to help those affected by human trafficking.

APRA|AMCOS is also please to announce details of a mobile app dedicated to the upcoming SONG SUMMIT 2012 event. Thanks to modern technology, delegates can carry around the entire Song Summit event in their pocket.

APRA’s SONG SUMMIT 2012 App is available in both iPhone and Android (Google) flavours – it’s easy to download it try out.
