Gotye & Adalita line up for triple j’s Unearthed Master Class! Plus Song Summit’s ‘Backstage Pass’

SONG SUMMIT, Australia’s premiere three-day music industry conference (to be held on May 26th – May 28th at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre) is proud to announce two amazing career opportunities.

triple j Unearthed and SONG SUMMIT are teaming up again in 2012 for an exciting career opportunity for eight lucky songwriters. One lucky singer songwriter from each state and territory will be flown into SONG SUMMIT 2012 to participate in an exclusive songwriting master class with two of Australia’s most inspiring music artists: GOTYE and ADALITA.

Both GOTYE and ADALITA have had a phenomenal year. GOTYE has taken the world by storm with his album Making Mirrors and the runaway success of a little song you might have heard called Somebody That I Used To Know. And ADALITA won hearts and minds with her acclaimed debut self-titled solo album, which won the AIR Award in 2011 for Best Independent Release.

This very special music workshop will be one hot ticket for eight aspiring songwriters. Entry is simple: register as an artist at and upload your tracks by Sunday, May 6th to be in the running.  Artists who have already registered are also automatically in the running. Check out the terms and conditions on the website. SONG SUMMIT 2012 is proudly supported by triple j Unearthed.

In other news, SONG SUMMIT 2012 (in partnership with the Australian Institute of Music) is proud to present Backstage Pass, a unique program catering specifically for primary and secondary students. Featuring more than ten mentors including JOSH PYKE, ERANA CLARK (Australian Idol Vocal coach), RAI THISTLETHWAYTE, JAKE STONE (Bluejuice), TIM LEVINSON (Urthboy) and PETER NORTHCOTE, this amazing opportunity is open to primary and secondary students who wish to hone their music skills with some of Australia’s leading music artists.

Taking place on site at AIM in Surry Hills, Sydney on Friday May 25th, Backstage Pass will host more than 160 aspiring young songwriters and musicians from around Australia.

Students will take part in workshops that cover everything from guitar and songwriting, drums, bass and percussion, audio engineering, music business, tour and festival management and hip-hop.

The work created by these students will culminate in a performance to take place during SONG SUMMIT 2012 on Sunday May 27th at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. Registration for Backstage Pass is just $30 – for full details please go to
